Santos Manuel Student Union History
The first Student Union Committee was established in 1956 - 1966 to determine the possibility of establishing a Student Union facility at CSUSB. After a long process of voting and financial planning, the building finally opened in February 1978. At the time, a small staff composed of a coordinator, clerical assistant, student assistants, and a custodian were the few faces that managed the halls of the Student Union.
Many renovation of the Student Union have taken place since the first opening, but the biggest reconstruction came in the Spring of 2006 when a nearly doubled sized Student Union opened up.
Thanks to a generous donation from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and a 2001 student fee referendum, the Santos Manuel Student Union is now a place where students can come to relax themselves, refresh themselves, and ultimately learn something about themselves.
